From 210 to 243: trusting the mock level on a second BITSAT attempt

Hi everyone, my name is Shria Fogla and I'm a student at BITS Pilani Hyderabad campus. Today we have one of our club mates with us Parth who scored really well in Bits. So Parth, would you like to introduce yourself to our audience?

Uh hi everyone, my name is Parth and I am a Phodu Club sort of Phodu Club student and yeah I did give bits and thanks to Phodu Club I did manage to score pretty well. So uh I am a proper J student. I've been preparing for J for the past two two and a half years. I got a percentile of 90 I got 98.2 in session one and session two of J means I got 99.1. Uh my BITSAT first attempt score was uh 210 and in the second attempt I got 243.

That's great. Okay. So how was your journey in 111 12th? How did you prepare for J and with that like how was your overall journey? How did you feel about it? Were you stressed? Was it hectic? Were you happy?

Yeah, I think I had a pretty uh typical J Journey. Uh I prepared I joined BMC Vidyamundi classes at the beginning of 11th grade and I was going to school as well. So I didn't do hybrid or anything like that. So it was I tried to sort of maintain a balance between my school life and my coaching and my all other extracurriculars and whatever. So yeah it was very turbulent of sorts not as smooth as one can expect obviously it's J. So

that's really glad to hear. So while you were preparing for JEE in 11th and 12th, did you have any low points where you felt like you couldn't do this anymore or you were too burnt out or you just wanted to like get rid of everything at that point?

Yeah, man. Story of every day. Yes, Perinda. It's it's just highs and lows like some days you feel like you're top you're on top of the world and other days you feel like you're not built for it. This is not something you can do and you can achieve. Yeah, I mean it's pretty normal and I think that's how it goes for almost everyone who prepares seriously and it's perfectly fine. I mean that's just how it is there. There are going to be highs there are going to be lows as well but you just have to sort of like one thing that really kept me going going was I would just remind myself to just take it one day at a time and that would really help me. So yeah it happens and but it's it's pretty manageable.

Okay. Also while since your main focus was J what made you shift towards bits?

Personally uh I know that a lot of students uh view bits just as a backup option and something that they should look at after if their J attempt has not gone well. For me my J was pretty good. So I got I think a rank of 14,000 or something. But uh for me bits was I was targeting bits as well and bits wasn't a secondary option just because I know that it is a tier one institution and it offers the same quality of education that you could you can get in NITS and even IITs. So for me bits wasn't something to look at if I if I couldn't perform well in JEE. It was all I was already sort of predetermined that no I have to focus on bits as well just because I know that it is a tier one college and the quality of life quality of education bits has to offer is just right up there with the other IITs and nits.

That's really nice to hear also. Uh okay so you you knew you had to prepare for bits. So why did you choose Phodu Club and how did you find out about Phodu Club? uh Phodu Club I think was one of the platform which was most recommended to me. Uh so I have a few seniors in bits uh who recommended Phodu Club and even I think every J aspirin goes through that phase where they uh sort of spam videos on YouTube trying to learn more strategies and just sort of make up a schedule and all. So even there I saw Phodu Club being mentioned on a lot of trusted channels and through a lot of good sources. So yeah I really and I'm really glad I chose Phodu Club over other courses actually.

Okay. So you found out about Phodu Club through YouTube and internet again and through like recommendations.

Right. Right. So what was your favorite feature like anything it could be anything about the entire test series favorite feature favorite subject favorite uh analysis whatever that you liked the most about our test series

uh I think I really like the so as as we all know like that bits doesn't actually release the pro actual question paper so the memory based test I think they helped me a lot and it was I think something that really helped me get in get a sort of standpoint on on where I am in my preparation and yeah that was something which was very helpful even the analysis of the mocks offered on the platform itself is very very convenient like I didn't have to sort of spend a lot of my energy and effort on sort of individually going through each and every question just to realize what my weaknesses were

really glad to hear that also uh would you recommend Phodu Club juniors and did you think that the test series was relevant like while you were giving ing the paper did you actually feel that it's similar to what Phodu Club gives its students

okay so yeah first of all absolutely I would definitely recommend Phodu Club to my juniors uh it really helped me and I think it is one of the best platforms which is specifically targeting bits as an individual examination

and did you find it relevant

okay so yeah so bits bits really is a unpredictable examination and I think Phodu Club did a pretty decent job of trying to replicate and sort of match the level of the mocks to the actual paper. I think at the start I was a little hesitant and a little wary of how good the quality and um comparable to how good it how comparable it is to the actual level of the paper. But I think after first se after the first session I understood that yeah it's it is pretty accurate although it might seem at first that it's way tougher or it's way trickier and there's no way that bits actually ask these questions but yeah no definitely for my second attempt I was definitely better prepared solely because I I completely trusted that the level of mocks I'm giving at Phodu Club will be comparable to the actual paper.
