99.51 in MHT-CET off BITSAT preparation alone

MHT-CET 99.51 %ile
JEE Main 96.5 %ile
JEE Advanced ~22,500 rank
BITSAT 209
I would obviously recommend to everyone anyone I find who is preparing for 11 12 and JEE and BITSAT stuff.
Vedant, verbatim from the interview above

01 · The journey Two years of JEE, with BITS as the target

Vedant is from Akot, a town near Akola about four hours from Nagpur. He began preparing two years earlier at a coaching centre in Akola, scored 96.5 percentile in JEE Main and about a 22,500 rank in Advanced — which he calls quite less, while adding that sitting Advanced at all is an opportunity he chose to see positively. BITS was his primary target from day one; nerves on the day left him at 209.

02 · The turning point Backlogs from a missed week and a family trip

This was his first year after class 12, not a drop year. He opened class 11 with no absences before a week of illness left him with backlogs that were hard to clear, made harder because his coaching did not record classes. Class 12 started well and then a family trip mid-year — which he says was not a good time to go, but everyone was pushing for it — put him behind again. He had it covered by December, ahead of JEE Main in January.

03 · What worked CET came free with the BITSAT work

He took Phodu Club around October on a friend's recommendation. He did nothing separate for MHT-CET beyond the free tests on the official CET site — the preparation he had done for BITSAT carried him to 99.51 percentile, and he says it helped in Advanced too. What he singles out is the relevance of the test series and the previous-year-question lectures; he watched fewer of the PCM lectures because class 11 and 12 had already covered that ground.

Revision notes

Used for the chapters his own short notes had not reached — short and crisp is his verdict.

I'm Vedant Vikram New New Vala. I'm from a town named Akot near Akola and at 4 hours drive from Nagpur. Um, it's located in Maharashtra. So, uh uh firstly, I started my JEE preparation in like 2 years back with Allen Akola. Uh there, I studied for JEE. I scored a bit less in JEE, but like decent. I scored 96.5% in my JEE Mains. And then I prepared for advanced. In advanced, I scored about 22.5K rank. Um, which is quite less, but at the end, you are giving advanced itself is an opportunity I looked at in a positive way. And then, uh my primary target was BITS from day one. So, in BITS, uh I actually got a bit nervous in my exam, so I scored a bit less like 209. So, I could get uh chemical or like any MSc degree. Which I could start in my BITS mainly Hyderabad mechanical, otherwise Pilani. Then, I gave MHTCET. Uh as my preparation was for BITS was like decently well, so I scored a 99.51% in my MHTCET, which was like I was happy like I scored it. I didn't prepare anything like uniquely for that. I just scored uh like I just the formula preparation for my BITSAT, and that helped me a lot in my advanced as well as MHTCET.

Yeah, uh you actually scored a lot in all the exams, and people actually find it tough to score even in one of the exams. So, that's actually great. And yeah, congrats on again congrats. And uh just wanted to know like how was your back story? Like how was your journey in 11th and 12th? Kaisa tha pura journey? and was it your drop year and was it your appearing year?

No, no. It was my first year after 12th. And so and my journey was like it had ups and downs. I started my 11th in starting three months I had no absentee and it was going very well then I had few absentee. I was unwell for a week. So I had my backlogs. It was hard to cover our backlogs. Like we don't get recording of our class in Allen. So yeah, it had ups and downs. I had very I had very like loads of doubts. I had to ask my teacher. It was a bit tough. So 11th passed by like okay, okay and then 11th was my strong. I covered it up in the end. And but in 12th starting it was going very well. In the up in mid 12th there was again backlog. I went to a trip family trip. So it was like not very good time to go on a family trip but everybody was forcing me so I went on a trip. It had a huge load of backlogs on me but I managed to cover it like till December like in January we have JEE Mains. I covered it till December. Everything was fine and in about October I took Phodu Club.

Where did you hear about Phodu Club and what made you join? Basically what was the motivation? What you were looking for exactly from Phodu Club?

Yeah, a friend recommended me Phodu Club.

Did you prepare anything specifically for MHT CET? Did you use any crash course, any test series dedicatedly for MHT CET?

I gave some tests on MHT CET website which are provided freely on like like registration of MHT CET. Otherwise I prepared mainly Phodu Club crash course.

So could you just let me know what all the things you liked about Phodu Club? Like you can be specific like yeah.

Everything.

Yes. So basically yeah, the crash course, test series, the other tools which we have like the college predictor or the prep tracker basically which has all the chapter wise list with the weightage and also the mentorship community. So what are your views on all these things?

I like most the like test series the like relevance of it. Phodu Club test series was one of it like best. And the PSS lectures were amazing. I watched PSM lectures PCM lectures a bit less because it already got covered in my 11 12. I mainly focused on PSS and test series. So that two were the things I liked the most.

That's great. Well, one last question. Did you use the revision notes for the PCM revision notes we had?

Yeah. I actually prepared my short notes, but the few chapters which were remaining I used Phodu Club revision notes. It was very good like very short and crisp. That is the best thing about it.

Since you find it relevant, will you be like recommending your photo this Phodu Club to your juniors or anyone preparing for

That's not even a question. I would obviously recommend to everyone anyone I find who is preparing for 11 12 and JEE and BITSAT stuff. Yeah. Obviously for sure.

So I guess you are in the counseling group as well. You can ask you can tag mentors you can ask any doubt if you have regarding the college and all. Yes.

Sure.

Yes.
