VITEEE Registration Fee: Colleges, Fees & Counselling

By:Dhruva Angle

Date:

At Phodu Club, we see students stressing over application forms just as much as they stress over their actual mock tests. Every year, aspirants delay their applications, get confused by the complicated category fee structures, and panic at the last minute. We built our platform because we noticed students putting in incredible effort but failing to execute on the administrative and strategic sides of exams like VITEEE. If you are targeting the Vellore Institute of Technology as your primary goal or a strong backup, getting absolute clarity on the VITEEE registration fee and the entire admission process is your first crucial step.

Quick Answer / TL;DR

  • The VITEEE registration fee is exactly ₹1,350 for all Indian candidates (non-refundable).
  • The application process is completely online via the official VIT website.
  • Counselling participation requires a separate fee of ₹5,900.
  • Tuition fees range from ₹1.98 Lakh to ₹4.9 Lakh per year, heavily dependent on your exam rank and allotted category (Category 1 to 5).
  • Expected exam timeline: Late April 2027.

How Much is the VITEEE registration fee for 2027?

Let us break down the financials of just applying for the exam. The official VITEEE registration fee for the 2027 cycle is expected to remain consistent with previous years.

For Indian candidates across all categories (General, SC, ST, OBC), the cost is ₹1,350. There are no fee relaxations based on your caste category or gender. For candidates opting for test centres abroad, the fee is equivalent to USD 90.

You can pay the VITEEE registration fee using various digital modes. These include net banking, credit cards, debit cards, UPI, and Paytm. Keep in mind that this amount is strictly non-refundable. If you make a mistake in your application and have to fill out a new one, you will have to pay this amount again.

Step-by-Step Registration Process

We always tell the students we work with to fill out these forms themselves rather than relying entirely on cyber cafes. It reduces the chance of silly errors that can cost you your seat later.

  1. New User Registration: Visit the official portal ( VITEEE.vit.ac.in ). Sign up using a valid email ID and your active mobile number. You will receive an OTP and a password.
  2. Fill Personal & Academic Details: Log in and enter your parent details, address, and expected 12th board information.
  3. Upload Documents: You must upload a recent passport-size photograph (10 KB to 200 KB) and an image of your signature (10 KB to 200 KB). Both must be in JPG/JPEG format.
  4. Make the Payment: Complete the transaction.
  5. Download the Application: Always save a PDF copy of the final submitted form and the payment receipt.

Which VIT Campuses & BTech Programs Are Offered?

VIT is not just one college. It is a network of four distinct campuses. We see a lot of students blindly applying without knowing which campus offers which program.

Here are the four campuses you can target through this exam:

  1. VIT Vellore: The main campus, the oldest, and the one with the highest cutoff and placement records.
  2. VIT Chennai: The second most preferred campus, offering excellent infrastructure and comparable placement opportunities.
  3. VIT-AP (Amaravati): A growing campus focusing heavily on modern tech specializations.
  4. VIT-Bhopal: Known for its unique CALTech (Collaborative and Active Learning through Technology) methodology.

You can explore a deep dive into the pros and cons of each location in our VITEEE Colleges overview.

How Does the VITEEE Fee Structure 2027 Work (Category-Wise)?

This is easily the most confusing part of the entire VIT admission process. At Phodu Club, we spend hours explaining this to parents and students.

VIT follows a unique Category System ranging from Category 1 to Category 5 during counselling. A lower category means lower tuition fees, while higher categories have increased fees due to demand and seat availability. Your category is not decided before the exam. It depends on your VITEEE rank and the availability of seats when you participate in counselling.

Group A, Group B, and Group C Programs

VIT divides its B.Tech programs into three groups based on the course structure and demand. The tuition fee varies depending on the programme group and admission category.

The final fee you pay depends on your rank, chosen branch, campus, and counselling category allotted during VITEEE admission counselling. Securing a higher rank improves your chances of getting preferred branches at lower fee categories.

If you want to understand what rank is required for which category, utilize our VITEEE College Predictor tool to set realistic targets.

What is the VITEEE Counselling Process 2027: Step-by-Step Guide?

Getting a good rank is only half the battle. The counselling process is where we see students make heartbreaking mistakes. VIT conducts a centralized online counselling process for all four campuses.

What is the VITEEE Counselling Process 2027: Step-by-Step Guide?

Here is exactly how it works:

  1. Result Declaration: Once results are out, you will be assigned a rank.
  2. Counselling Registration: You must log in and pay a counselling processing fee of ₹5,900. Remember, this counselling fee is completely separate from your initial VITEEE registration fee. However, unlike the application fee, this ₹5,900 is later adjusted against your first-year tuition fee if you take a seat.
  3. Phase-Wise Choice Filling: Counselling happens in phases (Phase 1 for ranks 1-20,000, Phase 2 for 20,001-45,000, and so on). During your phase, you will submit your preferences.
  4. The Preference Order: You must select a combination of Campus + Program + Fee Category. (e.g., Choice 1: Vellore - CSE - Category 1. Choice 2: Chennai - CSE - Category 1. Choice 3: Vellore - CSE - Category 2).
  5. Seat Allotment: Based on your rank and choices, the system allots you a seat.
  6. Advance Fee Payment: Once allotted, you have a very short window (usually a few days) to pay the advance tuition fee (usually ₹1 Lakh to ₹2 Lakh) to confirm the seat.

Our Top Advice: Never put a category in your choice filling list that you cannot afford. We have seen students get allotted Category 4 or 5 seats, fail to arrange the funds in 3 days, and end up losing the seat and being pushed out of the counselling process entirely.

For a deeper understanding of how to sequence your choices, read our guide on VITEEE Counselling .

What Are the VITEEE 2027 Eligibility Criteria?

Before you spend money on the application, you must verify that you are actually eligible to sit for the exam. The criteria are strict, and document verification happens physically when you report to campus.

  • Age Limit: For the 2027 exam, candidates must be born on or after July 1, 2005. You will need to provide your Class 10 certificate as proof of birth date.
  • Qualifying Exam: You must have passed or be appearing for your 10+2 (or equivalent) in 2027.
  • Subject Requirements: You must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) or Biology (PCB).
    • Note: PCB students are only eligible for Bio-stream programs (like Biotechnology and Bioengineering).
  • Minimum Marks: You need an aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology in your 12th board exams.
  • Relaxations: For SC/ST candidates and students from Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and North-Eastern states, the minimum aggregate requirement drops to 50%.

If you have doubts about your board criteria, especially if you are a dropper, check our VITEEE Eligibility Criteria page for clarification.

How Should You Prepare for the VITEEE 2027 Exam Pattern?

At Phodu Club, this is our core expertise. We built this platform because we saw students studying hard but scoring poorly in mock tests because they lacked a specific exam strategy.

VITEEE is a very different beast compared to JEE Main.

The Phodu Club Strategy

We worked with a student last year who was brilliant at physics but kept scoring around 60/125 in our mocks. Why? Because he treated VITEEE like JEE. He spent 5 minutes trying to solve tough physics questions.

Here is what we focus on first with our mentees:

1) Speed over Perfection: You have 150 minutes for 125 questions. That is slightly more than a minute per question. You simply cannot afford to get stuck. If a question looks like it will take more than 90 seconds, you must skip it and move forward. The paper is designed to test your speed and basic conceptual clarity, not your deep problem-solving depth.

2) Do Not Ignore English and Aptitude: These 15 questions are the ultimate rank deciders. When thousands of students score similarly in PCM, the ones who quickly secure these 15 marks jump ahead by thousands of ranks. Practice basic logical reasoning, blood relations, directions, and basic grammar.

3) Fixing the Plateau: If your scores are stagnant, doing random questions won't help. You need structured practice. We highly recommend enrolling in a targeted VITEEE Mock Test series that simulates the exact UI and difficulty of the real exam. Analyze your mocks to find out which specific chapters are dragging your time down.

If you are struggling to build a study plan, our mentors have put together a rapid VITEEE Crash Course designed specifically to fix weak fundamentals and boost attempt speed.

Conclusion & Next Steps

Preparing for engineering entrances is stressful enough without the added confusion of administrative procedures. Remember to track the dates carefully, arrange your documents in advance, and understand the category fee system before you make any commitments. Don't let the VITEEE registration fee deadline slip by while you are busy focusing solely on your board exams.

We’ve worked with enough students to know this: effort alone doesn’t fix your score. The right strategy does. That’s exactly what we focus on at Phodu Club. We are here to help you stop guessing and start improving. Take a mock test, analyze your gaps, and let us help you build a clear path to VIT Vellore.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1) What is the VITEEE registration fee for 2027?

The standard VITEEE registration fee is exactly ₹1,350 for all Indian candidates. For NRI candidates or those opting for foreign test centres, the fee is USD 90.

2) Is the counselling fee refundable if I don't get a seat?

No, the ₹5,900 counselling processing fee is strictly non-refundable. However, if you are allotted a seat and you decide to take it, this amount is adjusted against your first-year tuition fee.

3) What is the difference between Group A and Group B fees?

Group B programs (like Computer Science and IT) are in much higher demand and therefore have a higher tuition fee structure compared to Group A programs (like Civil or Mechanical Engineering), regardless of which category you fall into.

4) Can I change my campus after seat allotment?

No. Once a seat is allotted to you in a specific campus, program, and category during counselling, it is final. You cannot request a campus transfer or a branch change after the allotment is confirmed.

5) What are the hostel fees at VIT Vellore compared to other campuses?

Hostel fees vary widely based on the type of room (AC vs Non-AC) and the number of beds (1-bed to 6-bed). Generally, it ranges from ₹1.2 Lakh to ₹1.8 Lakh per year, including mess charges. Vellore and Chennai have relatively similar fee structures for housing.

6) When will the official notification for 2027 be released?

Based on historical trends, we expect the official brochure and application forms to go live on the official website around the last week of October 2026.

7) How can Phodu Club help me clear this exam if my mock scores are stuck?

At Phodu Club, we focus on identifying exactly why your score isn't moving. We don't just throw more theory at you. We analyze your mock test data to fix your attempt strategy, help you manage time better, and provide you with highly relevant VITEEE Crash Courses tailored to your specific weak areas.
